Race Rules & Guidelines
Official rules for KaizOFF racing tournaments. Please read carefully before competing.
Administration
- Members holding the Administrator role will serve as administrators for the events.
- Beginner-level hacks will be assigned to all racers ~ intermediate hacks can be picked upon racer agreement before selecting hack.
Scheduling
- Race scheduling is the responsibility of the two competing racers — please discuss in the scheduling channel or tag admins so they can post in the announcements channel promptly.
- Contestants should aim to schedule their races promptly upon mutual agreement.
Race Duration
Racers may choose between:
- A) A predetermined time limit, or
- B) Racing until the hack is completed.
The chosen format must be agreed upon by both participants before the race begins.
Tournament Structure
- The competition will follow a bracket-style format.
- Initial matchups will be determined by a bot that randomizes all registered players — done live in the server.
- Hacks being raced are randomly drawn by a bot from the approved hack list by an administrator — done live in the server.
- Winners will advance to the next round of the bracket.
- A losers' bracket may be implemented if there is sufficient interest among participants.
- A Champions Bracket will be introduced after a sufficient number of seasons have been run to fit a bracket-style tournament.
- If a racer drops out or is unable to race in a timely manner, their spot will be forfeited. The open spot will be filled by:
- A) A registered racer who was not in the current bracket but signed up after it was created. This option takes priority.
- B) If no such racer is available, a racer who has already competed but did not advance may be given a second chance — this will be determined by spinning a wheel that includes all racers who did not advance in their respective races.
New Bracket System & Rules Revision
- We will be using the new bracket system designed by Britt — thank you Britt 😃
- The Championship Round will now be a Best-of-3 series.
- Players may mutually decide on a skill level for the random hack roll or request an admin random selection.
- We may also get the viewers involved — polls could be held to let the audience decide the fate of the racers (e.g., choosing hack difficulty or theme).
- The method for filling spots if a racer leaves remains unchanged.
- Rules will continue to evolve as we test new formats and gather feedback.
Platform & Streaming
- Races may now be streamed on TikTok, Twitch, YouTube, or Discord, allowing greater flexibility for all racers.
- Use of OBS and the Vertical Plugin is recommended to help display multiple racers or co-host setups.
- With the help of OBS, racers can project other players' streams across platforms — TikTok, Twitch, YouTube, or even Discord for those who can't go live elsewhere.
- When streaming from TikTok, ensure audience controls are not set to 18+, to maintain compatibility when co-hosting.
- Implementation using Twitch or YouTube is fully supported — just make sure to test your stream layout ahead of time, especially for cross-platform races.
Conduct and Streaming Guidelines
- Participants should be kind and considerate to fellow racers and viewers.
- Maintain a family-friendly atmosphere in all communications and streams.
- All streams should attempt to maintain a PG rating to ensure enjoyment for all viewers.
Fair Play
- All participants are expected to compete in a sportsmanlike manner.
- Do not use emulator features that might provide an unfair advantage — including but not limited to: Rewind, Save States, or Slowdown.
- Any form of cheating or unfair advantage will result in disqualification.
